Not a Party

Zach texts, says come over. We’re gonna hang. I say, Who’s we? He says everybody. I say I’m not in the mood for a party. He says it’s not a party, just hanging out. I arm myself first with a gummy. (Supply’s getting low, will let Marissa know it’s all I want for Christmas.) I show up at Zach’s and everybody is there and his parents are somewhere. Music is playing and 1 gummy + 2 beers = cross faded faded faded (I think I’m going to be sick). Lashonda sits down on the couch beside me. She’s a bit more fermented than me (just a bit). Lashonda’s cute and curvy. Sweet smile with dimples. Dark hair, skin, eyes. She messes up my hair, asks why I’m always so angry. “I’m not always so angry.” Lydia, Riley, and Lashonda all say, “Oh yes, you are!” Lashonda starts kissing my nose. Eventually she kisses my mouth and I let her. Eventually I kiss her back and she lets me. We’re just friends, there’s nothing between us. Now there’s not even space between us. But this is no big deal, right?
